Our Story: Giving Back Through Compassion

When we began breeding Chihuahuas over 30 years ago, breeders were often criticized and misunderstood, with organizations like PETA lumping all breeders into the same category. From the very start, we wanted to do things differently—to show that responsible breeders can also be powerful advocates for animal welfare. We decided that a portion of every Chihuahua sale would go directly toward helping disadvantaged and homeless cats in need of medical care.

One of our earliest rescues was a tiny kitten named Bee, whom we found being given away outside a Walmart. She had a severe chest deformity, and with help from the exceptional team at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital, we funded a life-saving $4,500 surgery to move her intestines from her chest into her abdomen. That was in the early 2000s, and Bee’s recovery reminded us why we do what we do.

Over the years, we’ve helped fund countless surgeries and medical treatments, but a few stories stand out. One unforgettable rescue was an orange kitten found at Costco, both front legs crushed in a compactor. Surgery saved one leg, and against all odds, he made a full recovery. He’s still with us today—healthy, happy, and around 16 years old in 2025.

For the past two decades, we’ve also maintained a YouTube channel showcasing our ongoing rescue work—trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts, monitored feeding stations, and countless stories of hope and healing.

In 2024, we rescued a very affectionate stray we call Mama. Over the past year and a half, we’ve spent more than $5,000 on her care, including full-mouth extractions, bloodwork, X-rays, and medications. Despite being FIV-positive, Mama’s immune system remains strong, and with monthly Depo-Medrol injections, she enjoys a comfortable, happy life.

Another 2024 rescue, Hopie, was found malnourished and pregnant. X-rays showed she was about two weeks from delivery, but due to her poor condition, our veterinarian recommended an abortion to protect her health. The procedure, follow-up care, and medications totaled over $2,000—but Hopie recovered beautifully and is now thriving.

A recent 2025 rescue is of kitten with torn mouth, lip avulsion .

That is not his tongue but his raw jaw and chin showing with no flesh covering. The lip and entire flesh has ripped away hanging down past his jaw. I found him screaming outside. I believe he was dumped at my home and I noticed he goes up to other animals to love them up so we believe a raccoon grabbed him on the face resulting in the traumatic Injury. We will pay for his re attachment surgery if needed, but need a home for this very affectionate kitten

Sinbad’s Story — A Kitten Who Got Lucky

Over 18 years ago, a tiny 8-week-old kitten named Sinbad beat the odds. He had been bitten by a Pitbull and left untreated for three long days at a veterinary hospital in Stockton, CA — no pain medication, no antibiotics, and no care, just waiting for animal control to pick him up for euthanasia.

Then, a miracle happened. A compassionate vet tech from that clinic secretly called us, whispering that there was a kitten suffering and begging for help. She didn’t want anyone to hear her call, but her courage saved a life that day.

When Sinbad arrived to me , his leg was swollen to twice its normal size, blackened, and broken in multiple places. He had puncture wounds across his chest and was in terrible pain — yet somehow, he still purred.

Our vet took X-rays and recommended amputation, but I couldn’t give up on him. We began aggressive antibiotic treatment, daily massages with healing oils, and round-the-clock care. Slowly, the swelling went down. Eventually, Sinbad underwent surgery to repair his leg with pins and bolts. He lost a few toes to gangrene, but he kept his leg — and his beautiful spirit.

Sinbad went on to live 17 wonderful years, full of love, strength, and joy. His story is a reminder that every life matters and that sometimes it only takes one brave act of kindness to change a life forever
